Now in its 33rd edition, the Challenge Stellina is a 14.3K uphill race with 1500 meters of climb and will take place on August 28, 2022, in Susa, Italy.
For 2022, the race will host an international competition for athletics federations from 7 countries that fought on the side of the allies in World War II (USA, Italy, France, Great Britain, Switzerland, Austria and Germany) to share history and promote peace. This “International Meeting of Nations” will be sanctioned by the Italian Athletics Federation (FIDAL).

U.S. Team Selection
Top 2 men / women at the 2022 USATF Vertical Mountain Running Championships / Loon Mountain Race [Lauren Gregory, Rachel Tomajczyk, Joseph Gray & Daniel Curts] on July 10. The third spot based on resume submissions to fill the team. Resumes due July 11. Send resumes to Richard Bolt ([email protected]).
The team will be announced by July 15.
Team USA athlete eligibility requirements: Athletes must be a 2022 USA Track & Field (USATF) member.
Funding: This team is funded by the American Trail Running Association (ATRA). National team uniforms proved by USA Track & Field.
Trip Duration: Team travel from the United States to Italy will depart Thursday, August 25, and arrive on Friday, August 26. Course preview will take place on August 26 and 27. The race is on August 28. Team departure will be on Monday, August 29, for a total of 3 nights lodging. Team members are welcome to arrive earlier and stay longer, but will need to provide their own lodging and transportation to and from the venue/airport.
Susa is located 66 kilometers from Turin airport and 185 km from Milan-Malpensa (MXP) airport. The airport for arrival TBD either Turin (TRN), or Milan-Malpensa (MXP).
