Description:
Running Up for Air (aka RUFA) Kyhv Peak is a 6, 12 and 24-hour winter endurance challenge that takes place on Kyhv Peak east of Provo, Utah. Each “lap” starts and finishes at the Rock Canyon Trailhead located at 2620 North 1450 East, Provo, UT. Parking is available at the trailhead but we encourage participants to carpool, walk or bike to the event.
The race begins at the pavilion by the Rock Canyon parking lot, continues along the paved road for 0.5 a mile, then, transitions to double track for an additional 1.2 miles, then forks left for 2 more miles to the Squaw Peak summit. A small aid station and check in awaits at the top. Follow your footsteps (likely in snow) back down to the base station. Each lap is 7.5 miles long, with ~2,800’ of elevation gain. Repeat this route as many times as possible. The time of year (February) is intentional as it coincides with the latter part of the winter inversion season.
