Description:
Ultra Snowshoe Race – 100 miles and Snowshoe Marathon, 1/2 Marathon, and 10k Option. The course will be a rugged 6.5 mile loop in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Each loop has 1200 vertical. Weather: It’s Vermont in March. Please watch the weather leading up to the race and plan accordingly. Expect cold temps. DROP BAGS: We will have a tent set up and you can leave bags with food and clothes at the start/finish. PARKING: We have parking at Riverside Farm on Tweed River Road just off route 100. There will be Event Parking signs and a designated parking area. Please park in designated areas. You may be towed if you are parked illegally. Schwag and Awards: Shirts, hats, cool finishers awards.
Starts with a steep slog paralleling several lengthy flights of stone steps before traversing up the Rabbit Hole and through a cavernous stand of spruce. It then cuts up an ancient forest road cutting through several Green Trail Switchbacks before winding through La Gran Aventura which climbs to a plateau atop South Hill. It follows a sinuous path through aptly named Labyrinth before emerging onto a isolated stone hut with panoramic views of the Green Mountains, a short respite before abruptly dropping into the technical terrain of Devil’s Throat followed by simultaneous elevator chutes. A narrow and at times gnarly route traverses the backside of the mountain in the form of Bubba Trail. The course re-crosses the ravine returning via Riverside Run, Crazy Mazie and Muddy’s Hut.
